GWR Monitoring Violation

Water Samples

Each month, the City of Lamesa Water Department. PWS 0580001, is required to submit water samples for bacteriological testing. The samples we submitted during January 2014 contained coliform bacteria. The presence of coliform bacteria could indicate a potential problem with our water system's groundwater sources(s) or our distribution system.

When coliform bacteria are found on our distribution system, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) requires us to collect a specific number of samples from each of our groundwater sources to help determine the cause of the positive samples.

The failure to collect any or all of these groundwater source samples is a monitoring violation and we are required to notify you of this violation. If you have any questions regarding this violation, you may contact Dionicio Garza, Jr. (Director of Utilities) at (806) 872-4328 or (806) 332-9036.
